Plot summary
On the night before school starts, Brady and Mack mark the anniversary of the day they met by watching Wet Side Story, the 1960s musical they were once trapped inside. Mack plays down Brady's worry that school will change things between them, then finds that the necklace she brought back from that world is missing. Their friends Devon and Alyssa are startled by the pairing. Brady keeps his surfboard designs hidden from Mack, who is busy with a Save the Beach dance, and when he misses the college fair they meant to attend together, Mack ends the relationship. Inside the film's world, Lela and Tanner slip out of the script; they find the necklace, dive into the ocean and surface in the real world, where Brady and Mack are still barely speaking.
