Plot summary
On California's Sierra Madre Mountain, two parties camp at the same time. Jake Cannon, a survivalist, commands the Blue Legion, a squad of teenage boys. The other group, Survival Quest, is a backpacking self-help course led by the mountain man Hank Chambers, who teaches his campers to work together. Among them are the wisecracking Joey, Cheryl, a divorcee, and Gray, a convict. Jake's squad makes harassing the other campers part of its training. When the soldiers come to believe that one of the hikers has killed their commander, they set out to hunt the Survival Quest group through the wilderness.
