Plot summary
Made to mark Superman's fiftieth anniversary, the special retells the comic book hero's history in a humorous way, mixing live action with animation. A host leads the audience through the character's screen past, from early animated shorts and a live-action television series to the Superman films. Comic sketches run between the clips, and guest performers appear as citizens of Metropolis, who give their own views of Superman.
