Plot summary
A violent crime breaks the quiet of the neighborhood where Rose lives, and it happens on the same morning her wayward brother turns up back at the house. Elsewhere in the city, Chris, the aunt of Rose and her brother, is ailing and keeps to herself, refusing phone calls and letting mail go unopened. Police are moving house to house in a manhunt, and Chris walks into her own living room to find a wounded man holding a gun, with blood on him. Rather than run or cry out, she speaks to him and tells him she will not scream.
