Plot summary
Ben McKay took Leanne Dargon from her family and kept her locked in his basement for seventeen years, telling her he had saved her from world destruction and calling her Leia. She believed him and has no memory of the life before him. At twenty-three she is found and brought back to Marcy and Glen Dargon, her biological parents, while Ben sits in prison charged with her kidnapping. Marcy stopped working after the abduction and has organized her years around her daughter's return; Glen coped in his own way. Leanne sees two strangers where they see the child they lost, and the reunion is formal and strained.
