Plot summary
Sweden's aristocrats want out of the Kalmar Union and plot to overthrow Christian II of Denmark. The king is bound for Stockholm to end the rebellion led by Sten Sture. Anne Eriksson and her foster sister Freja carry an errand of their own: on Anne's wedding day, men murdered their family, and the sisters have promised each other to seek out those men and take revenge. The sisters travel to Stockholm, a city where the Danish crown and the Swedish resistance are closing on each other, and where their hunt draws them into the middle of the conflict.
