Plot summary
After Britain's victory over France in the Seven Years War, the French leave America, and the Native peoples who had allied with them expect the British to take revenge. Ottawa Chief Pontiac convinces many tribes that striking first is their only course; some join the fighting willingly and others are forced into it. Their objective is Fort Pitt, where hundreds of men, women and children are trapped. Colonel Henry Bouquet is given a mixed force of British soldiers, American volunteers and Scottish Highlanders and ordered to reach the fort. The fighting on both sides makes use of brutal and unconventional tactics.
