Plot summary
Peace has come to the galaxy, and Steven Universe, now sixteen, is greeted by the citizens of the Gem Empire. The Diamonds ask him to stay and lead beside them in the place of his mother, Pink Diamond. He turns them down and goes home to Earth, where the Crystal Gems are celebrating. A giant drill sets down on a hillside, and from it comes Spinel, a deranged and cartoonish Gem who says she will kill Steven and every other living thing on Earth. Her scythe-like weapon drives the Crystal Gems into their gem forms and weakens his Gem powers.
