Plot summary
Petrified by daylight when she leaves the Stone Forest, Hilda revives after sunset and finds she cannot return to Trolberg because of its belltowers. In Trolberg, Johanna finds Baba in Hilda's place, and Tontu concludes that a changeling spell is responsible. Johanna, with Baba, Tontu, Alfur and Twig, searches for Hilda but cannot find the way into the Stone Forest. Erik Ahlberg announces a curfew as troll activity outside the city increases, and Frida and David protest the inaccurate safety video shown at their school. In a cave hung with bells, a gigantic troll called Trundle promises to return Hilda to her human form once she performs tasks for him.
