Plot summary
The Federation and the rebel Terra Nostra fleets are both split, and John Worthy has uncovered that the Overseer runs both. General Gustav, a former Federation general, joins Worthy's rebel crew. On the Terra Nostra planet, where Federation and rebel fleets are fighting, he orders a ceasefire. Supreme Commander Czarina hears of it and treats it as betrayal, sending a fleet that captures Worthy, Gustav and their crew. At Terminus, the Federation capital, she tries them: Worthy, Gustav and Diana receive death sentences, while Marta is sentenced to genetic rehabilitation. In the outer rim, Jolli and Torgus travel in an escape pod, land on Guada Prime and meet an android, then watch the trial on the news. The Overseer's plan is to turn the people of the rebellious worlds into mindless slaves with an ancient alien virus.
