Plot summary
Bruce Kane has just returned home from college when a shark attack on Laura Wilcox's eighteenth birthday leaves her in need of rescue, and he is the one who gets her out of the water. The town takes to him as a local hero for it. He stays close while she recovers, and he seems taken with her. Laura, though, is not looking for a new romance: her boyfriend was killed in the attack, and she is still grieving him.
