Plot summary
High school senior Samantha Hodges writes for the school newspaper SquadGoals and for the yearbook, and she is close to her mother, Emily Hodges, who works at the school as a guidance counselor. Samantha and her friends Nate Squires, Gillian Brady and Rudy Kampion are all in the running for a full-ride local scholarship. During a student performance of Romeo and Juliet, their classmate Jordan Reynolds collapses and dies. An allergic reaction is blamed, and Jordan has a severe allergy to nuts. Samantha finds the death suspicious and turns her reporting into an investigation, with Nate, a photography enthusiast, helping her.
