Plot summary
On the outskirts of Rotterdam, Rien and Hans race dirt bikes as amateurs, hoping to reach the professional motocross circuit. Their friend Eef serves as their mechanic, and the three share a hero in the champion racer Gerrit Witkamp. Each of them is looking for a way out of the working-class neighborhood they grew up in. When a food truck sells fries at the local races, all three are drawn to Fientje, who works it with her brother Jaap. Fientje wants to leave the food truck and put distance between herself and Jaap, and she sees the riders as her chance. Eef, whose father is a devout farmer, is beaten at home. Rien has a girlfriend, Maya.
