Plot summary
Ben and Louise Dalton live in London with their preteen daughter Agnes. On a vacation in Italy they meet Paddy and Ciara, a British couple whose son Ant cannot speak, and Ciara explains that he was born with a genetic condition. Back home, an invitation arrives for a weekend at the couple's remote farmhouse in Devon. The Daltons accept and are welcomed warmly. As the visit goes on, Paddy and Ciara's behavior crosses social boundaries, and they treat Ant aggressively. One evening out to dinner, Paddy mocks Louise's vegetarianism and simulates a sex act with Ciara. Later that night Louise finds Agnes and Ant in bed with the drunken couple, and the Daltons try to leave.
