Plot summary
Jimmy Ray is a convicted felon who served twelve years for armed robbery, and he is granted early parole. He returns to Annie, the girl he loved in childhood and now his fiancée, who is dying of cancer. He promises to give her the best year she has left, and he plans to marry her. Those plans are halted by his parole officer, Officer Schmidt, who is corrupt, and by Whit Price, a local crime boss.
