Plot summary
Out of jail, Frank Romanowski brings his old friends Swaino and Packie back to his engine repair shop in Manchester, New Hampshire. The pair have been raising his small daughter Crystal while her mother, Karen, is absent. Years pass, Crystal is in high school and filling out college applications, and Frank, who has quit drinking and smoking, wants her to do the same. At Christmas dinner she announces that UCLA has accepted her, and Karen arrives to take her shopping. A night out for the three men ends in a quarrel with other men and a fistfight, and three months of silence follow. Frank then texts both friends with a reason for coming to the shop that is not the true one.
