Sixty Six (2006) on Netflix

Plot summary

Bernie Reubens is a young Jewish boy who lives in North London and is preparing for his bar mitzvah. He meticulously plans a lavish reception meant to outdo the one held for his older brother Alvie. Money troubles keep hitting the family, and his parents are forced to lower his expectations and stage the celebration at home. The 1966 World Cup Final falls on the same day, and when England reaches the match, many of the invited guests invent reasons to skip the reception so they can stay home and watch the game. The story is based on a real bar mitzvah in London.
