Plot summary
Dr. Henry Carter is a psychiatrist whose clients work in the film industry. Patrick, a talent agent, has a germ phobia and believes Kate's age limits her career; Jack Holden, a popular celebrity, denies a drinking problem. Carter's wife has died, and he is disheveled, lives alone above the Hollywood Hills, drinks himself to sleep and never enters his bedroom. His father sends him Jemma, a high-school student her school requires to attend therapy after she cut her hand punching a mirror. Carter also spends time with Jesus, the dealer who sells him marijuana, and with Jeremy, a struggling screenwriter related through his late wife, who takes an interest in Patrick's assistant, Daisy.
