Plot summary
Sequin is sixteen and at ease with being queer, and he is close to his father. He finds men through a hook-up app and stops replying after each encounter, keeping sex anonymous rather than serious. Then B, a married man much older than him, wants to meet again. At school Tommy, who has a crush on Sequin, asks him on a conventional date and Sequin accepts. D invites Sequin to a group sex party at the Blue Room, where B spots him and chases him until Edward steps in. Edward and Sequin have sex, and Edward leaves, telling Sequin that he can find him out there. Sequin does not know who Edward is, and he sets out to find him.

- The film was Samuel Van Grinsven's graduate work at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, and he made it on a meager budget of only $45,000.
- Samuel Van Grinsven cast Conor Leach as Sequin unconventionally: with no filmmaking track record, agents and actors were reluctant to work with him, but Leach's agent emailed anyway and Van Grinsven asked for an audition tape. He watched only its first two lines and said Leach captured the character's self-awareness, quiet confidence and cunning.
- To reserve the color blue for the scene in 'The Blue Room', where an anonymous group sex party takes place, Samuel Van Grinsven almost entirely removed it from the film: the outside scenes had no blue skies, and blue was absent from costumes, set design and grading.
- Van Grinsven said many of the film's storylines were directly based on his own coming-of-age experiences, and that it was influenced by New Queer Cinema and the early works of Gregg Araki and Gus Van Sant.
