Plot summary
Lucy Pierce has an ordinary upbringing with the mother who raised her until she comes across newspaper reports about the Baby Victoria case, an abduction that happened the year she was born, and recognizes her own infant photograph among them. She goes looking for Elizabeth Marshall, the biological mother she has never met, a criminal prosecutor campaigning to become governor of Pennsylvania. Their reunion is heartfelt, and the attention that follows turns Lucy from an anonymous young woman into a media sensation overnight. Elizabeth's daughter Terri, who is used to being an only child, resents the sister who has appeared in her life.
