Plot summary
Maintenance workers Neil and Dominique let a mutant mouse out of a sealed chamber below deck on an old Staten Island Ferry called Mortimer. Selena, a bartender with dreams of becoming an artist, races to the boat to get away from obnoxious socialites celebrating a birthday. Ferry employee Pete brings her on board. Alone on the ferry, Selena sees the creature kill a police officer. She tries to warn Pete, Amber, Lieutenant Diaz and first mate Tommy, and none of them believe her.

- The decommissioned Staten Island ferry used in Screamboat is owned by Saturday Night Live stars Colin Jost and Pete Davidson, and so much fake blood was used during filming that a special cleaning crew had to be hired.
- Director Steven LaMorte and producer Amy Schumacher, who also stars in the film, rode the Staten Island Ferry 15 to 20 times in a single day to scout locations for cartoon carnage.
- The Steamboat Willie version of Mickey Mouse entered the public domain on January 1, 2024, and Screamboat was announced just one day later.
- Screamboat's characters are named after Disney princesses: Cindi for Cinderella, Ariana for Ariel, Jazzy for Jasmine, Bella for Belle, Ilsa for Elsa, and Rory for Aurora, with Amber named for Princess Amber of Sofia the First.
- Garcia-Dunn came up with the idea of including the princesses, because LaMorte had seen those kinds of party groups on the Staten Island Ferry on weekend nights when he was in his 20s.
- The film's dialogue includes Disney catchphrases such as "It's a small world after all," "Be our guest," "Let it go," and "Dead men tell no tales," and the number 33 appears as a reference to Disney Parks' Club 33.
- For a scene at the Staten Island Ferry's Liberty Café, director Steven LaMorte had the props department use the genuine cheap beer served there.
