Plot summary
Matt Ocre joins the Army Reserve in July 2001 to pay for college. Early in the 2003 Iraq War, he tries to get himself sent home by trapping his hand in a Humvee door. The attempt is unsuccessful, and his cast is removed just before he ships out to Baghdad. There his squad is assigned to fix a broken water system in the village of Baqubah, where a Special Forces unit under Captain Syverson runs the operation.
