Virginia Hammond

Virginia Hammond was an American film and theater actress who began on the stage in 1907 with a debut in the Broadway play John the Baptist. Born in Staunton, Virginia, and raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa, she trained at dramatic schools in Chicago. Her stage credits included Our American Cousin, The Famous Mrs. Fair, and The Man Who Came to Dinner, and she played Mrs. Frazier in Craig's Wife in 1947. She entered films in 1916 with the silent Vultures of Society and went on to appear in Chandu the Magician (1932), Charlie Chan's Courage (1934), and Romeo and Juliet (1936), her last screen role, as Lady Montague. She died in 1972.
