Truman Bradley
Biography
Truman Bradley was an actor and narrator who worked in radio, television, and film. Born in Sheldon, Missouri, he wanted a career on stage but studied law at his parents' urging before starting out in radio in the 1930s. Broadcasting at WBBM in Chicago, he was chosen by Henry Ford as announcer for the Ford Sunday Evening Hour, and his voice led to work as a radio actor and a movie narrator. He announced for programs including Red Skelton's show, Burns and Allen, Easy Aces, the Frank Sinatra Show, and Screen Guild Players, and in the mid-1940s he was a newscaster at KERN in Bakersfield. On screen he won critical praise for The Night Before the Divorce (1942) and appeared in Northwest Passage (1940), Millionaires in Prison (1940), and Murder Among Friends (1941). He hosted the syndicated series Science Fiction Theatre in the 1950s and made his last acting appearance on Perry Mason in 1960.
