Skipp Sudduth
Biography
Skipp Sudduth is an American stage, film and television actor and director who was born in Wareham, Massachusetts, and trained in acting at the University of Virginia, where he earned a master's degree in 1985. He moved to Chicago and worked in stage productions there before taking small film parts in 54 (1998) and A Cool, Dry Place (1998) and larger ones opposite Robert De Niro in Ronin (1998) and Flawless (1999). He is best known as NYPD officer John Sullivan in the NBC drama Third Watch, appearing in all six seasons, and he directed an episode of the series, which led to directing work on ER and Criminal Minds. His Broadway credits include The Iceman Cometh in 1999 and the 2008 revival of South Pacific. He also leads the band Minus Ted.

Sudduth is a keen amateur racing and stunt driver, and in Ronin (1998) he did nearly all of the driving for his character.
Behind the camera
Sudduth directed the Third Watch episode "Collateral Damage, Part II" during season four, and that work got him his Directors Guild of America card.
Beyond film
Sudduth took on the part of Captain George Brackett in 2008, playing the role in the Tony Award-winning Lincoln Center revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific.
Early training
The next year Sudduth went back to school, joining the University of Virginia's Department of Drama acting program. There he met Spencer Golub, whose guided improvisation work became the basis of Sudduth's acting approach.
A change of course
Sudduth spent a year directing alumni relations at his alma mater, working under college president Josiah Bunting III. He then apprenticed for a year to the winemaker at Rose Bower Vineyard and Winery.
