Shane Briant

Shane Briant was an English actor and novelist who studied law at Trinity College Dublin before turning to the stage, playing the lead in Hamlet at Dublin's Eblana Theatre. London theater critics nominated him as best newcomer for Children of the Wolf at the Apollo Theatre. Signed by Elstree Film Studios in late 1973, he became best known for four Hammer productions: Demons of the Mind (1972), Straight On Till Morning (1972), Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974) and Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974). He also played the title role in a 1973 American television version of The Picture of Dorian Gray, appeared in The Naked Civil Servant (1975) and took the part of Jack Palance's son in Hawk the Slayer (1980). From the early 1980s he worked largely in Australian and New Zealand film and television, including The Lighthorsemen (1987) and Murder Is Easy (1982). He later wrote several novels.
