Sergio Fantoni

Sergio Fantoni was an Italian actor and voice artist who also wrote for the stage and directed. Born in Rome, the son of the actor Cesare Fantoni, he started out in the late 1940s in films, radio dramas, television and theater, and made his screen debut alongside his father in Anthony of Padua in 1949. Though he worked mainly in his own country, he took roles in international productions, among them the villain Haman in Esther and the King (1960), and he appeared in Hollywood films of the 1960s, most notably The Prize (1963) and Von Ryan's Express (1965). In Britain he acted with Cherie Lunghi in the Channel 4 series The Manageress. He was also a voice actor, dubbing Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now and providing voice-overs for Henry Fonda, Rock Hudson, Gregory Peck, Ben Kingsley, Max von Sydow and Robert Taylor.
