Sanjeev Bhaskar
Biography
Sanjeev Bhaskar is a British performer whose comedy and television work spans sketch shows, sitcoms, documentaries, and drama. Born in Ealing, Middlesex, he earned a marketing degree before turning to entertainment. With Nitin Sawhney he formed the musical comedy double act The Secret Asians, and a strong Time Out review of their Ovalhouse show led to BBC sketch series Goodness Gracious Me. He became known for The Kumars at No. 42 and presented India with Sanjeev Bhaskar. His dramatic roles include Dr Prem Sharma in The Indian Doctor and DI Sunny Khan in Unforgotten. On film he had a cameo in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007) and a major role in Yesterday (2019). He wrote and starred in Mumbai Calling, made his musical theater debut in Spamalot, and was appointed an OBE. In 2009 he became chancellor at the University of Sussex.

A first
In 2008, Bhaskar took on the role of King Arthur in Spamalot at the Palace Theatre in London, marking his first appearance in musical theater.
Beyond film
Bhaskar, the Kumars and Gareth Gates released the 2003 Comic Relief single "Spirit in the Sky", which topped the UK Singles chart for three weeks and was the year's second highest-selling single.
