Richard Thomas

Richard Thomas is an American actor who began on the New York stage as a child. Born in Manhattan, he made his Broadway debut in 1958 in Sunrise at Campobello and later worked in daytime soap operas. His first major film parts came in 1969 with Winning and Last Summer. He became widely known as John-Boy Walton on the CBS series The Waltons from 1972 to 1977, winning a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor and earning two Golden Globe nominations. He played Bill Denbrough in the 1990 miniseries It and Frank Gaad on The Americans from 2013 to 2016. Other screen credits include Wonder Boys (2000), You'll Like My Mother (1972), and Battle Beyond the Stars (1980). He received a Tony nomination for The Balusters, and he also played Atticus Finch in a touring stage version of To Kill a Mockingbird. He later played Nathan Davis in the Netflix series Ozark.
