Biography

Rene Russo is an American actress who was born in Burbank, California, and began in fashion modeling, landing covers for magazines including Vogue, Mademoiselle and Cosmopolitan. She studied acting and worked in small theaters around California, then made her television debut in 1987 in the series Sable. Her first feature was Major League (1989), and she broke through in Lethal Weapon 3 (1992). Her 1990s thrillers and action films include In the Line of Fire (1993), Outbreak (1995), Get Shorty (1995), Ransom (1996) and The Thomas Crown Affair (1999). After the family comedy Yours, Mine & Ours (2005), she stepped away from acting for five years, returning as Frigga in Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Her work in Nightcrawler (2014) brought a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress and a BAFTA nomination. Other credits include The Intern (2015), Just Getting Started (2017) and Velvet Buzzsaw (2019).
