Percy Marmont

Biography

Percy Marmont was an English film actor whose screen career stretched across more than 80 pictures made between 1916 and 1968. He was best known for supporting roles in British movies, particularly those directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Earlier he had built a successful career in Hollywood as a matinee idol during the silent era. A notable success came with If Winter Comes, which MGM later remade in 1947, and he took the lead part in Lord Jim (1925), the first adaptation of Joseph Conrad's novel for the screen. In the Paramount production Mantrap (1926) he played one of Clara Bow's love interests. He was born in London in 1883 and died there in 1977.
