Per Oscarsson
Biography
Per Oscarsson was a Swedish actor, born in 1927 on Kungsholmen in Stockholm, who died in 2010. He became known for his performance as Pontus, a starving writer, in Hunger, a 1966 social realism drama based on Knut Hamsun's 1890 novel of the same name. For that work he won the Bodil in 1966, a Guldbagge Award for best leading actor, and the best actor prize at the Cannes Film Festival that year. In 2009, Oscarsson took the part of Holger Palmgren, the publicly appointed guardian of Lisbeth Salander, in The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009) and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest (2009), both adapted from Stieg Larsson's novels.
