A role that slipped away
Shenar's voice work as Jenner in The Secret of NIMH impressed Don Bluth so much that Bluth wanted him for Space Ace's villain Commander Borf, but budget issues kept the part and Bluth took it himself.
A change of course
Shenar acted in Milwaukee playhouse productions, then enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school. He returned to acting and in 1963 first appeared on Broadway in Six Characters in Search of an Author.
