Oliver Phelps
Biography
Oliver Phelps is an English actor and podcaster best known for portraying George Weasley in the Harry Potter films between 2001 and 2011, while his twin brother James played Fred. Born in Sutton Coldfield, England, in 1986, Phelps had no previous acting experience when he and James skipped school in 2000 to attend an open casting call in Leeds; after roughly six rounds, they were cast as the Weasley twins, with Oliver assigned to George at the first table reading. In 2009 the brothers appeared as siblings in an episode of the television series Kingdom. Phelps starred in the 2012 short documentary A Mind's Eye, which explored Plato's philosophical ideas, and made his stage debut in 2018 in The Case of the Frightened Lady at the Grand Opera House in York. He and James have also collaborated on a podcast, whose third season, Normal Not Normal, came out in 2021.
