Biography

Noel Gallagher is an English musician and songwriter who was the main songwriter, lead guitarist and one of the singers in Oasis. Born in Manchester, he began playing guitar at twelve and later worked as a roadie for Inspiral Carpets. He joined Oasis, taking creative control as its sole songwriter. (1995) topped charts worldwide and Be Here Now (1997) sold faster than any previous UK album. After leaving Oasis in 2009, he formed Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, releasing four studio albums. First role
Gallagher's first recording experience came from answering a newspaper ad seeking a collaborator, which led to demos including 'Baj' and 'Womb to Tomb'.
Behind the camera
Gallagher set up Big Brother Recordings to take over Oasis' UK distribution after Alan McGee sold his stake in Creation to Sony.
Behind the camera
In 2001, Gallagher started his own label, Sour Mash Records, which put out records by acts including Shack and Proud Mary. His first work as a producer came before that, with Proud Mary's debut, The Same Old Blues.
A role that slipped away
Gallagher originally wanted to sing lead vocals on 'Wonderwall', but Liam insisted on singing it, so as compensation Noel sang lead on 'Don't Look Back in Anger'.
Getting ready for a role
Gallagher wrote at least three songs for Definitely Maybe, including 'Live Forever', while working in a storehouse he called 'The Hit Hut'.
