A role that slipped away
Nable was cast as Ra's al Ghul on Arrow after Liam Neeson, who played the role in The Dark Knight Trilogy, was unavailable despite expressing interest and the network reaching out to him.
Behind the camera
Thomas Keneally, a Booker Prize-winning novelist and Nable's mentor, encouraged him to write a screenplay for The Final Winter, which was based on Nable's unpublished novel of the same name.
A change of course
Nable played for Carlisle and then the London Broncos in England before quitting football. He boxed as an amateur for the state light-heavyweight title, and also sold beer and worked as a personal trainer.
