Biography
Marty Belafsky is an American actor and comedian who began performing professionally at 13 and soon won the part of Louis Plumb on NBC's Hull High. The Disney musical Newsies (1992) followed, with Belafsky as Crutchie, and he worked steadily through his teens on shows including The Wonder Years, Great Scott and Step By Step and in the film Wrestling Ernest Hemingway. After stepping away from acting in 1993 to study at Brown University, where he performed with the improv troupe Improvidence, he returned to Hollywood and took up stand-up at The Laugh Factory. Rodney Dangerfield discovered him, hired him as his opening act in Las Vegas and cast him in two of his films. Belafsky's later credits include America's Sweethearts (2001), A Mighty Wind (2003) and Funny Money (2006), a regular role on MTV's The Lyricist Lounge Show and guest appearances on Boston Legal.
