Marie Matiko

Biography

Marie Matiko is an American actress who began on stage and moved into film and television. Born in Los Angeles County and raised in Huntington Beach, she studied environmental engineering at UCLA before Cameron Mackintosh cast her in the first national tour of Miss Saigon, playing Gigi and Mimi. After returning to Los Angeles to pursue screen acting, she made her film debut in The Corruptor (1999) as May, a heroin-addicted indentured servant trapped by Triads in New York's Chinatown. She starred as Julia in The Art of War (2000), which brought her a Best Actress in a Feature Film nomination at the 2001 AX Awards. In Date Movie (2006) she made her comedic debut as Betty, and in A Dennis the Menace Christmas (2007) she appeared as Dennis's teacher and voiced the group therapist. On television she played the twin daughters Pao Ssu and K'ao Hsin on Xena and voiced characters on Game Over and Miami Vice.
