Plot summary

Lieutenant Nick Chen runs the NYPD's Asian Gang Unit, holding Chinatown together while the Tung Fung Benevolent Association tong fights a street gang, the Fukienese Dragons, over territory. Chen also passes word to the tongs, reporting to Uncle Benny Wong and to Henry Lee, Wong's second in command. When a bombing shakes the neighborhood, Danny Wallace is placed in the unit and tells Chen he wants the posting to earn his detective shield quickly. His real assignment comes from Internal Affairs, which wants him watching Chen. A raid on a Fukienese brothel ends with Chen saving Danny's life. Danny then launches a drug bust on his own, unaware that a federal agent is working undercover inside the operation, and the interference brings him to the attention of Lee.
