Liliane Montevecchi
Biography
Liliane Montevecchi was a French actress, dancer and singer who trained in ballet at the Conservatoire de Paris and performed at the Opéra Comique before becoming a prima ballerina with Roland Petit's company. Signed by MGM in the mid-1950s, she appeared in The Glass Slipper (1955), Moonfleet (1955), The Sad Sack (1957), King Creole (1958) and The Young Lions (1958), and much later in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003). On Broadway she replaced Colette Brosset in La Plume de Ma Tante, then toured for nine years with the Folies Bergère and later starred in its Paris revue, from 1972 to 1978. Her performance in Nine (1982) brought her a Tony and a Drama Desk award, and she was nominated for a Tony for Grand Hotel. She died in 2018.

Montevecchi left Hollywood to take a star spot in the Folies Bergere in Las Vegas. She spent nine years touring with the company, then appeared at the Folies Bergere in Paris from 1972 to 1978.

Montevecchi started ballet lessons at 8 with Pierre Duprez, a primo ballerino. She completed her training at the Conservatoire de Paris with Jeanne Schwarz and Mathilde Kschessinska, then danced at the Opéra Comique.
