Leonardo Cimino

Leonardo Cimino was an American actor whose career spanned stage, television, and film. Born in Manhattan, he studied violin at the Juilliard School as a teenager but became drawn to acting and dance. His professional stage debut came in 1936 in Middle Man, and in 1937 he appeared in the original production of The Cradle Will Rock. After studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse, he made his Broadway debut in a 1946 revival of Cyrano de Bergerac with José Ferrer. He acted in close to twenty Broadway shows, among them a 1962 adaptation of A Passage to India and a revival of The Iceman Cometh in 1985. He won a 1958 Obie Award for The Brothers Karamazov and was nominated for a 1976 Drama Desk Award for A Memory of Two Mondays. On screen he was known for V and The Monster Squad (1987). He died in 2012.
