Plot summary
Kevin Quinn, who runs the homicide bureau at the District Attorney's office, hands a police shooting case to Deputy District Attorney Aloysius Reilly. A decorated police detective, Mike Brennan, shoots a small-time criminal and then pressures witnesses to say he fired in self-defense. Reilly takes Brennan's deposition, in which Brennan says a tip from an informant sent him to the scene. What Reilly gathers draws him toward Roberto 'Bobby Tex' Texador, a Puerto Rican crime boss, and toward Texador's wife, Nancy Bosch, a woman Reilly once loved. She ended their relationship years earlier and refuses his attempts to revive it, telling him that with Bobby she is loved and accepted for who she is.
