Plot summary
Anthony and Dolores Montelli and their four children, Sonny, Patricia, Mark and Jan, move into 112 Ocean Avenue, a large house in Amityville, New York. At night something bangs on the door when no one is outside, and a demonic message is painted on Jan's wall. Anthony blames Jan and Mark and beats them, then hits Dolores when she tries to stop him. Dolores asks the local Catholic priest, Father Frank Adamsky, to bless the home. Another demonic incident damages the kitchen, and Anthony again blames the younger children; when Adamsky steps in, Anthony orders him to leave. Dolores threatens to divorce Anthony unless he apologizes to the priest, so the family sets out for church. Sonny, saying he feels unwell, stays behind.

- George Lutz wanted the sequel based on The Amityville Horror Part II by John G. Jones, but producer Dino De Laurentiis instead used Hans Holzer's Murder in Amityville. Lutz sued, lost, but won posters in theaters stating "This film has no affiliation with George and Kathy Lutz."
- Director Damiano Damiani added the incest scene between Sonny (Jack Magner) and Patricia (Diane Franklin) to the script to upset viewers, but after test screenings the film was cut to tone it down, along with an anal rape of Dolores (Rutanya Alda) by Anthony (Burt Young).
