Biography

Larry David is an American writer, actor, comedian, and television producer whose comedy often turns on dry wit and awkward social situations. Born in Brooklyn, he started as a stand-up comedian, then wrote and performed on ABC's Fridays from 1980 to 1982 and wrote briefly for Saturday Night Live. He and Jerry Seinfeld created Seinfeld, and David earned Primetime Emmy Awards for the show and for his writing, including the episode The Contest. He went on to create, write, and star in HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, following the special Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm (1999). His film credits include Woody Allen's New York Stories (1989) and Whatever Works (2009), plus The Three Stooges (2012) and the HBO movie Clear History (2013), which he co-wrote and starred in. On Broadway, he wrote and starred in Fish in the Dark in 2015. His honors include Primetime Emmy, Producers Guild of America, and Writers Guild of America awards.
