Plot summary
Manhattan Plaza is an apartment complex in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City, run as an experiment in subsidized housing for people who work in the arts. The documentary traces how the project came together, set against the city's real estate market in the 1970s. Previous tenants who became well-known performers describe the years they lived there and what the building did for their careers. People involved in the development explain how it was organized, and the account places the building within a wider movement for affordable housing for artists.
