Plot summary
Bearded and long-haired, Nathan Flomm works alongside Will Haney at a San Jose company that is preparing to launch an electric vehicle. Flomm objects to the model being named the Howard, after Haney's son, and takes a severance package to leave. The Howard is a hit, and Flomm becomes a public joke, having lost what would have been his billion-dollar share. Ten years on he is balding and clean-shaven, known as Rolly DaVore on Martha's Vineyard, where his friends include Frank, his ex-girlfriend Wendy and the contractor Mr. McKenzie. Will Haney, now rich, arrives with his wife Rhonda and begins building a large house on the site of the old Stumpo family home. He does not recognize Flomm, who plots revenge for the fortune he lost.
