Ken Gampu
Biography
Ken Gampu was a South African actor who appeared in film, television and theater. Born in Germiston, he worked as a physical training instructor, a salesman, an interpreter and a police officer before turning to acting. His first role came in Athol Fugard's 1958 play No Good Friday, and his breakthrough was Jamie Uys's 1965 film Dingaka. That same year he took a significant part in Cornel Wilde's adventure film The Naked Prey (1965). In 1973 he starred in the action film Joe Bullet as a tough hero that The Guardian said was modeled on a mix of Shaft and James Bond. He also played a beat reporter in Death of a Snowman and Khumalo in the 1982 film Shamwari, alongside Ian Yule and Tamara Franke.
