Kate Maberly

Kate Maberly is an English actress, director, writer, musician, and producer. Born in Reigate, Surrey, she studied piano and cello at Trinity College of Music in London, finishing in 2004. Her breakthrough came in 1993 as Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden (1993), a performance that earned a Special Award from the London Film Critics Circle. She followed it with lead roles in The Langoliers and Gulliver's Travels, and later appeared in BBC dramas such as Daniel Deronda and the film Finding Neverland (2004). Her stage work includes Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and Mathilde in Total Eclipse at the Royal Court Theatre. Other films include Like Minds (2006), Popcorn (2007), and Rites of Passage (2012). Her narration of Catherine, Called Birdy received an Audie Award in 1995, and in 2015 she wrote, directed, and produced Charlie's Supersonic Glider, a short that opened the Hollywood Film Festival. Variety named her one of its 10 Brits to Watch in 2017.
