John McLiam
Biography
John McLiam was a Canadian actor who built a long career in film, television and theater and was known for his ear for accents. Born in Alberta, he began acting in 1946 in a San Francisco production of Maxwell Anderson's Winterset, and by 1951 he was on Broadway in Anderson's Barefoot in Athens, with later stage work in Saint Joan and Tiger at the Gates. He settled in California in 1960 to work on screen, playing parts in such films as In Cold Blood (1967), Sleeper (1973), The Iceman Cometh (1973), The Missouri Breaks (1976) and First Blood (1982). He also appeared in My Fair Lady and Cool Hand Luke and guest starred on many television series, and his own play, The Sin of Pat Muldoon, had a brief Broadway run in 1957.
