Jamie Bartlett
Biography
Jamie Bartlett was an actor from South Africa, born in Britain, who won awards for stage work and for two long-running television series, Isidingo and Rhythm City. He studied drama and speech at the University of Cape Town, then began his professional career at the Market Theater in 1986 in Cock and Bull Story, a role that brought him a Vita Award for most promising actor. On Isidingo he was Mike O'Riley and spoke the show's first line, and from 2007 he played David Genaro on Rhythm City, winning a South African Film and Television Award for best actor. He also took Vita best actor prizes for East and Mojo, and a 2010 Naledi Theatre Award for his lead role in Death of a Colonialist. His films included Red Dust (2004), Prey (2007) and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013).
